Let’s Brag About Our 100 Club

Typically, non-profits spend about 10% of their donations on administrative costs.  THIS IS NOT THE CASE WITH YOUR 100 CLUB.

100% OF MEMBERSHIP FEES, GRANTS, AND DONATIONS ARE ALLOCATED TO OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT BENEFIT FUND.  NONE IS USED FOR ADMINISTRATIVE OVERHEAD.
  • All board members are volunteers.  We rely totally on volunteer staff.  There are no paid administrators.
  • We minimize our overhead.  Our only recurring expenses are:
-Post Office Box ($198 per year)
           -Storage Unit ($1,200 per year)
-Website Registration and Hosting (about $300 per year)
-100 Club Liability Insurance ($2,470 per year)
-100 Club Board Members’ Liability ($2,310 per year)

Donation boxes located in prominent businesses around Fredericksburg cover most of these recurring expenses.  Donations made during the annual banquet make up for any shortcomings.

Morning Rotary Club Presents $5,000 Donation

Picture
During its meeting on Thursday August 14th, the Fredericksburg Morning Rotary Club presented our 100 Club with a $5,000 donation.  Pictured above from left: Brad Schneider - 100 Club board member and Rotary Club member, Graham Pearson - 100 Club president, Marc Bennett -  Rotary Club member, and Brian Wiggins - Fredericksburg Morning Rotary Club president.

This was the second $5,000 donation from the Morning Rotary Club.  This $10,000 donation is earmarked for the Sheriff's Office K-9 project and other projects currently in the planning stages. The 100 Club is extremely grateful for this very generous donation.

K-9 Patrol Vehicles for our Sheriff’s Office
Your 100 Club board recently approved the purchase of three K-9 conversion kits for three new Sheriff’s Office patrol cars.  These kits replace the back seats and provide supplemental air conditioning, food and water, and a remotely controlled door that the deputy can use to release the dog in case of an emergency.

When these K-9 patrol cars are delivered later this year, each patrol shift will have a K-9 unit.  The cost of these kits plus installation was $23,487, funded through pledges from foundation donors, your 100 Club, and several 100 Club members.

License Plate Reading (LPR) Cameras for our Police Department
The Fredericksburg Police Department has installed several cameras on major gateways to our city.  These cameras read license plates and are linked to a database that includes stolen vehicles and trailers, criminals on the run, and other plates that are being searched for.  Whenever a license plate matches a database entry, a notification is dispatched to all local law enforcement agencies.

Many cities are installing LPR cameras as they are regarded highly effective by law enforcement agencies and a prudent means of increasing safety for city residents.

Your 100 Club board recently approved the purchase of four additional LPR cameras to monitor the remaining city gateways.  This purchase was partially funded by the City of Fredericksburg.  The remaining $11,000 was donated by your 100 Club.

During their February meeting, the 100 Club board approved scholarships for all new 2025 Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office and Fredericksburg Police Department recruits requiring certification.

Recruiting New 100 Club Members
We need your help in recruiting new 100 Club members.  Have you spoken with your family and friends about the many ways your 100 Club supports our local law enforcement agencies?  Annual membership is only $100 and all members are invited free of charge to our annual banquet.  Business and lifetime memberships are also available.  Please check our web page BECOME A MEMBER for more details.

Our 100 Club is proud of the fact that 100% of all membership dues are deposited in our benefit fund.  This fund is earmarked for purchasing supplemental insurance for our commissioned officers, for providing scholarships for new officer recruits, and for other programs and equipment that directly benefit the various law enforcement agencies assigned to Gillespie County.

Topic of Interest - Fredericksburg's Teen Court

In September 2024, the City of Fredericksburg’s Presiding Municipal Judge Shelley Becker established a Teen Court.  Teenagers who have pled guilty or no contest to minor infractions, including Class C misdemeanors, can refer their sentencing to Teen Court.

Teen Court comprises high school volunteers who act as prosecutors, defense attorneys, jurors and bailiffs.  Adult volunteers include professional attorneys who provide legal guidance to the teen attorneys, jury facilitators who manage the jury process, and coordinators who oversee volunteer activities.  Judge Becker presides over the proceedings.

After the prosecutor and defense attorney have questioned the defendant and any witnesses, the jury deliberates and announces their verdict.  Jurors determine sentencing that can include community service, educational classes, and jury service.  No monetary fines are imposed.

Defendants must have a parent or guardian present.  Teen Court is a legally binding justice system for teenage offenders.  It provides alternative consequences for youths who have committed minor infractions rather than receiving a permanent mark on their record.  Teen Court promotes accountability and community engagement and provides an excellent opportunity for high school students to become familiar with court proceedings.

Anyone can attend Teen Court as an observer.  All proceedings are held in the Municipal Courtroom, 103 Industrial Loop Suite 1000, Fredericksburg, Texas 78624.  Call 830-997-9935 for the upcoming Teen Court schedule.
